05 190 - Nota Getzel OBIEDZINSKI
Son of Gedaliahu Shmuel. From Grajewo. Died 20 Marcheshvan, 5675 (October 22, 1914), had children.
Interestingly, the year of death is not on the main part of the stone but is instead carved into the separate base stone, as you can see from the black and white photo below. That photo shows Rashka Finkelstein, who was related to Nota Getzel's sister, Fanny Frydman, by the marriage of their children, posing with the stone in the 1930's.
The last photo shows Fanny and Rashka's great-grandson, Fred Finkelstein, kneeling by the stone in 2008. (Many thanks to Fred's wife, Nora Paille, for the last two photos and information!)

This is the stone of my husband's great-grandmother's brother.
Translated:
A beauty of honor,
a man esteemed of his root,
from a splendid and delightful vine,
Our beloved father from this was established, Getzel, son of Gedalyahu Scmuel, father of Obiedzinski, from Gryveh, who died with a good reputation, the second of Marheshvan 5675.
May his soul be bound up in the bonds of life.
I would like to send you a photo of my husband next to the stone in 2006, as well as a photo of his great-grandmother next to the stone in, perhaps, the 1930's. Due to your work in posting these photos on the internet, my husband was able to locate his relative's gravestone and match it to the family photo. Thank you! Where can I send the photos? njpaille@aol.com

I am moved to tears by this cemetary and the journey of your family. What a beautiful inscription.
I too may have family in this cemetery. Maybe Mordchai Grodzinski (and son?)- if family, his cousins came through Ellis Island and settled in NY, Argentina, Florida. One of them may have been my great-grandmother Gertrude, a very gutsy woman who died of cancer at a young 38. Her daughter, my beloved gma is 101 and going strong.
I am grateful to all who have done the work to post this information. It's a wonderful thing.

My great grandfather was married to a sarashena finklestein and then a woman named Betya. Trying to get more info. I understand that my great grandfather may have been killed in the polish woods.
